Pt. Pinos Light, Pacific Grove CA

We went to the Monterey/Carmel area on Thanksgiving Weekend 2008. It was a windy, but clear day when we visited the Pt. Pinos Lighthouse. We got there too late in the afternoon to go inside, but the sunset light was perfect for pictures outside. Built in 1855, this is the oldest operational lighthouse in the Western United States.

Beautiful photo!

By the way, Point Pinos Lighthouse is in Pacific Grove. The town of Pacifica is about 100 miles north of Point Pinos Lighthouse.

Hi Nicole, thanks for pointing out the error! Of course it's in Pacific Grove. We also saw the incredible Monarch Butterflies there.

The contrast of the lighthouse and sky is amazing. Love the clarity in the photo.
